It's Never Too Early To Prep For Winter

As we move into the fall season, a few simple measures can prevent frozen pipes and ensure a safe winter season. Here's some basic tips so the cold weather doesn't catch you off guard.
Inspecting your pipes before the temperatures are predicted to drop may save you from an emergency situation. Freezing water in your pipes (at 32°F) expands which can cause pipe to burst. Insulating your pipes, faucets, and water meters that are exposed to the direct weather can help prevent this.
A few common sense basics include...
Keep your garage door closed.
Cover outside vents.
Open cabinet doors under sinks to let warm air circulate around pipes.
Disconnect garden hoses so the cold doesn't reach your pipes.
And lastly, if you do have exposed pipes, let a small stream of cold water flow from the faucet. This can help prevent freezing and reduce pressure inside the pipes.
Wishing you a safe and wonderful winter.
